The earliest of Webley revolvers were produced for civilian use. The .455 revolver shown at the top right was one of the most potent European handguns of the day, and freely available to the British public. The less powerful .380 Webley shown in the other pictures was the basis for the Enfield army model. Due to its considerable weight, this revolver has a very mild recoil. Despite the theoretical limitations of the break-open frame, it is quite accurate. The main limiting factor of its usability is the relatively high price of ammunition. |
